Twenty-Three Latino Organizations Sign Letter Urging Acting EPA Administrator Wheeler to Stop Harmful Rollback of Oil and Gas Pollution Protections

In a joint letter to Acting Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Andrew Wheeler, led by GreenLatinos and Hispanic Access Foundation, 23 Latino organizations urged the EPA to stop its harmful rollback of the New Source Performance Standards – commonsense methane pollution protections finalized in 2016 that limit the release of toxic air pollution from oil and gas operations.

THE PUEBLO CHIEFTAIN: Methane rules needed to protect Colorado’s children

There’s a certain irony in Colorado hosting the one and only public hearing of the President Donald Trump administration’s proposed re-write of the 2016 Environmental Protection Agency methane rule. Colorado was the first to implement state-level methane regulations on oil and gas production in 2014, a mark not only of Colorado values, but the necessity of protecting the health, safety and taxpayer resources associated with being the sixth-largest oil- and gas-producing state.

Latino Youth Celebrate Their Hispanic Heritage with Fishing Derby at El Dorado Regional Park

LOS ANGELES – 94 Latinos from Fontana and Santa Ana, 61 youth and 33 parents from Por la Creación Faith-based Alliance, and a total of over 600 youth attracted by the Dan Hernandez Youth Foundation, took to rods and reels this past Saturday for a freshwater fishing experience at El Dorado Regional Park. The fishing derby held by the Dan Hernandez Youth Foundation with support from Hispanic Access Foundation, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and The City of Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine, taught multi-generational families basic fishing instruction, water safety, and hands-on conservation and aquatic stewardship activities.

Lilly Endowment Awards Hispanic Access Grant to Develop Faith Leader Capacity

WASHINGTON – Hispanic Access Foundation has received a grant of $998,415 to help establish the “Hispanic Leadership Network: Enfoque Ministerial (A Focus on Ministry for Thriving Congregations).” It is part of Lilly Endowment Inc.’s Thriving in Ministry, an initiative that supports a variety of religious organizations across the nation as they create or strengthen programs that help pastors build relationships with experienced clergy who can serve as mentors and guide them through key leadership challenges in congregational ministry.
