A Community Science Movement for Clean Air
Advancing Air Quality & Strengthening Communities

The Air We Breathe (El Aire Que Respiramos) initiative brings together Latino communities across the country to better understand and improve local air quality. Through community science, education, and trusted partnerships, we equip residents to collect data, elevate their voices, and take action to reduce pollution and protect the health and well-being of their communities.

A Community Science Movement for Clean Air
Turning Data Into Action for Health and Community Well-Being

We engage Latino communities in understanding and improving air quality by creating opportunities for learning, connection, and action—from community science and data collection to advocacy and storytelling that drive awareness and change.

Air quality shapes health, well-being, and quality of life—and communities are essential to improving it. Through The Air We Breathe, Hispanic Access connects residents to tools, data, and partnerships that build understanding and strengthen the connection between people, environment, and health.

Why It Matters

Air pollution is a leading driver of respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological disease—and Latino communities are disproportionately exposed due to where they live, work, and play. Without access to data and pathways for action, communities face barriers to addressing the environmental conditions that impact their health.

How We Create Change

We activate communities through a participatory community science model that builds knowledge and ownership of air quality data. By partnering with residents, local leaders, and organizations, we create opportunities for data collection, shared learning, and advocacy that elevate community voice and drive solutions.

Driving Lasting Impact

When communities understand and act on air quality data, they can reduce exposure, improve health outcomes, and drive lasting change. As Latino communities continue to grow, their leadership will be essential in shaping cleaner air and healthier futures for all.
