Category: News Releases

Today, the Latino Conservation Alliance released the following statement upon the introductions of Latino Conservation Resolutions in the US House of Representatives and Senate.

“The Latino Conservation Alliance- LCA- applauds the bipartisan leadership taken by Sen. Michael Bennet (D-CO), Rep. Grace Napolitano (D-CA) and Rep. Carlos Curbelo (R-FL) to highlight the passion and commitment of the Latino community towards the protection and enjoyment of our public lands. The Latino Conservation Resolutions, S. Res. 602 and H. Res. 898, are the first of its kind to be introduced to Congress and add to the celebratory spirit of National Hispanic Heritage Month.”

“Latinos are passionate about enjoying the outdoors and hold a strong belief that we have a moral obligation to protect it for future generations. As the largest ethnic group in America - one that is expected to grow to nearly one-quarter of the population by 2050 - the Latino community's engagement is critical to ensuring the future success and preservation of our nation's public lands. We appreciate the recognition of the importance of fostering conservation and stewardship within the Latino community by our members of Congress.”

“It is equally important to acknowledge the work done by Latino-serving organizations to the overall conservation movement. The LCA is committed to increasing representation, access and inclusion of Latinos in conservation and public land management at all levels - local, state, and federal.”
